I arrived about an hour early so I could get set up and grab a quick bite to eat before beginning my set. I'd put together some tunes by the Beatles, John Denver, and other artists from the early 70's. This was the first time I'd be using my Boss Looping Station and I was concerned I had my levels right before hand.

I was greeted by Nancy Quinn, the store manager, who made sure I had everything I needed and knew where the electrical outlets were.. It was a leisurely set up in a well lit area just off the cafe portion of the store. Just before beginning, I chowed down a great ham and cheese croissant from the in-house  Starbucks.

As I began playing, the few folks in the store, on this sunny Friday summer afternoon, quietly read and sipped at their store bought beverages. I didn't quiet feel warmed up, initially, and wound up adjusting my levels a bit, before the evening started to fall into place.

I had fun with my original diddy Mountain Song, playing a lead accompaniment along with the prerecorded track, I'd set up. I then moved through my new versions of Shower The People, Deal (Hunter, Garcia), Looking Into You (J.Browne), Here There & Everywhere (John, Paul,George, Ringo), & Rocky Mountain High. Each included the prerecorded rythmn track I'd especially made for it, turning it on at the right moment with my foot switch.

Though the audience was thin, it being a perfect evening outside,  everything seemed to go very smoothly. A few friends stopped by to listen and we made small talk between tunes. The store atmosphere is just lovely, what one would expect from a great bookstore. Each of the many neat, orderly shelves and book cases well stocked with imagination, information, and thoughtfulness, and in a large casual setting, so condusive to contemplation processessing.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself on this summer eve, playing acoustical music from the heart. The people in the store are warm and friendly, and I am hopeful I will be asked back again, sometime soon.
